Hi everyone this is Yasuko and it's time for
Massage Monday. I have this anti-aging self face lift massage
which has been the most popular video on my channel. But there is this part where I fast forward
to save you from boredom from watching me repeat the same process. I have received several requests to re-do
the video in the normal speed so it's easier to follow.
So here's the better version. Enjoy making your face smaller, lifted and
look younger. Hi everyone this is Yasuko and it's time for
Massage Monday. As I'm getting older I have been bombarded
with signs of age starting with gray hair, fine lines, things are sagging and drooping,
getting loose and lumpy.
It's very sad. I have been researching anti-aging facelift
massage. This week I'm going to introduce you to Yukuko
Tanaka who was charismatic, very famous Japanese beautician. Unfortunately she passed away last year but
there's a lot of DVDs and books and tutorials so the rest of us can still benefit from her
method.
She was famous for Zogan Massage which helped
to lift up the face and make your face smaller. You look 10 years younger and you only need
few minutes a day. In her method she incorporates lymphatic drainage
massage. As you can see there's a lymph node in front
of the ear.
The idea is to loosen up the facial muscles. Push all the impurities and fat and toxins
to this lymph node in front of the ear and drain it through the neck towards the lymph
node by the clavicle. I'm going to bare all my imperfections and
work on myself. Let's get started.
First you need a creme or lotion to massage
with. I'm going to use my favorite moisturizer by
Eminence Organics. Apply all over your face. Let's get the lymphatic system going by slowly
stroking from the ear down to the clavicle three times.
Use the index, middle and ring fingers. You are touching the side of the neck, not
the front of the neck. If you have long fingernails you can stroke
the other side of the neck. Right side with your left hand and left side
with your right hand.
On the forehead. Slide your three fingers from the center to
the sides. Drain by sliding your finger by the ear to
the clavicle. Do this three times.
Around the eyes. Gently slide right under the eyes from the
outer corners to the inner corners. Put a little pressure as you slide your finger
under the eyebrow. Then slide your fingers under the eye socket
with little pressure from the inner corner to the outer corner and to the temple.
Drain by the ear to the clavicle. Repeat three times. Right under the eye inside the eye socket
is very delicate so do it very gently. Do not touch the eye balls.
From the center of the chin, press and slide
your fingers around the mouth to the philtrum between the nose and the upper lip. Firmly press against the gum as you do this. Repeat three times. Massage around the soft part of your nose
five times.
This helps to cleanse the pores. Then massage the hard part of your nose five
times. Slide your fingers to the sides and drain
by the ears to the clavicle. Repeat three times.
From the center of the chin, slide your fingers
to the corners of your mouth, pass the edges of your nose, and go all the way to the inner
corners of your eyes. Slide to the sides and drain by the ears to
the clavicle. Repeat three times. Use the entire palm, not just fingertips,
to push all the meat and fat.
Hold one cheek with one hand. Slide the palm from the bottom of the cheek
diagonally under the cheek bone to the inner corner of the eye. Slide to the side and drain. Repeat three times.
Again push all the fat from the cheek to the
eye and to the side and drain. Repeat on the other side. Put three fingers by the soft part of your
nose and press with good pressure. Slide to the ears and drain to the clavicle.
Repeat three times. Next put the base of your thumb between the
nose and the cheek bone. Slide along the cheek bone to the front of
the ears and drain. Repeat three times.
Put the base of your thumb on the corners
of your mouth. Press against the gum. Slide as you push the cheek meat to the front
of the ears and drain. Repeat three times.
Press the heel of your hand on the center
of the chin. Pull up the chin towards the front of the
ear until the thumb goes behind the ear. And drain down to the clavicle. Repeat three times.
This helps to get rid of the double chin. Repeat on the other side. Put your thumbs on the chin and firmly press
the sides of your index fingers by the nose. Push all the impurities to the side outside
of your faceline and drain.
Make sure there is no space between the index
fingers and the face. Repeat three times. With one hand go zigzag on the forehead as
you move from one side to the other. This helps to eliminate the lines.
Finish up with the forehead strokes from the
center to the temples and drain by the front of the ear to the clavicle. Repeat three times. You can easily try this at home as you put
on a sunscreen or lotion. It takes only few minutes so I think it's
worth a try.
Some people have immediate results. So try this and let me know what you think. Thanks for watching. I'll see you back next week.
Make it a great week and please don't forget

Reviewer: Denise RQ. I believe that we're all only given
one precious life. For those of us who are
really lucky to be born, it's a life to be embraced, a life to be used for good, and a life that's worth
prolonging in good health. When we're all very young, we assume that our parents,
and our grandparents, all our loved ones will be around forever; but then we learn that that's not true.
I clearly remember my daughter Madeleine - here she is -
when she was four years old. I was putting her to bed, and she said, "Daddy, will you always be
around to protect me?" Man, it almost brings a tear
to my eye right now: I think anyone who's been a parent
knows how this feels. And I said to her
- I had to be honest - I said, "I'm sorry. One day, like everybody,
I will grow old, and I will die." I watched her eyes well up,
and she gave me a really big hug.
But then I told her
- I think what we all tell our children which is, "Just don't think about it," and so she did. (Laughter) But here's my big idea:
I think we've all done this in our lives, we all try to forget about this truth. Ironically, I believe
this is preventing us from realizing the lives
we could actually live. My grandmother Vera, she's an amazing lady: she saved lives in World War II; she escaped persecution from Hungary
and fled to Australia; she had a wonderful sense
of humor, a love of life; and she spent a lot of time raising me; and she never wanted me
to call her grandma - only Vera - because she hated
the idea of growing old.
But since then, I've watched her grow old. She has watched herself grow old too,
and she used to apologize to me for it. A few months ago, I heard that she fell over in her apartment,
and she broke the top of her femur. She went straight to hospital.
They operated on her. Her heart stopped in the operation. I arrived in Sydney with my son Ben,
five years old, to say goodbye to her. She was there, just a shell
of the woman she once was.
She had a feeding tube
coming out her nose. She barely knew who anybody was. And I thought, "This thing we call aging -
why aren't we up in arms about it?" (Laughter) And this once vibrant woman,
reduced to this; it's incredible. This is just my story, but this is being played out
every day in everybody's family.
It's certainly not an isolated case. In fact, I don't want to be a downer, but this, or something like it
is going to happen to all our loved ones, including all of us. That's actually the best case scenario. So why aren't we doing more about it? I think we all know
that aging's important.
For example, the World Health Organization
recently put out a report, a 32-page report saying that aging is one of the biggest
problems of our generation. Unless we do something to keep
the elderly healthy and productive, the cost is going to crush
national infrastructures. Our way of life, our economies
are going to fall. This is what the governments are saying.
But what you may not realize is a fraction of just 1% of medical research is devoted to understanding why we age, and even less is devoted
to trying to do something about it. And this, to me, is a major puzzle. What I think is going on is
that we just don't like to think about it. It's really quite weird.
I noticed many of you chuckled
when I was introduced. I think we're just ingrained
to really not want to talk about it. We feel uncomfortable, embarrassed talking about extending lifespan
and delaying aging. For many people, it's even sacrilegious.
I once debated the bioethics adviser to
President George W Bush on national radio. His point to the audience, and to me,
was aging is natural. It's part of the way of life. In fact, it makes life worth living.
What a load of bull. (Laughter) Alzheimer's, heart disease, cancer -
these are natural; and we do everything we can
to prevent and slow these diseases down. Ninety-nine percent of medical research is devoted to trying
to slow down these diseases, which actually, only a fraction
of us actually get; whereas aging,
if we're lucky, affects all of us. So you might ask, "Why don't we
just continue what we're doing? Why don't we just study
individual diseases?" That's what we've always done.
It seems pretty good.
But what you may not know is that the rate of aging is actually decreasing. What I mean by that is that we've developed many medicines
that actually can treat part of our body, say our hearts - we're very good
at keeping our hearts healthy - but our brains still age. So we have ended up with - and just to use
my grandmother as an example - a nation of elderly whose hearts
are working well for example, but their brains
are no longer functioning. And this is a major problem
for a healthcare system.
It's extremely, extremely expensive. What we need are medicines that will keep all of our body parts
working at the same time. If we just fix one part of our body, the problem is some other part
will break down: we are just switching out diseases. I don't think this is
the right way to go about it.
If you look at this graph actually,
this really brings it home. We are always taught that our medicines are making us
healthier for longer. That's not true. Look at this graph.
The amount of time
that we are spending in good health is actually decreasing
in terms of percentage. No wonder healthcare costs are going up. What we need to do, of course,
is to keep us healthier for longer. So, I am not talking about
living for 500 years.
I see that sometimes quoted in the press. But what I am talking about is an ability for us to live into our 90s
and our 100s in a healthy way and not like my grandmother who suffers. And many of us will go through this unless we do something
about the root cause of aging. I would argue it is
the greatest problem of our time.
Well, let me tell you about the work
that I've been doing, a little bit, about how I think we can get
at the root cause of aging. So when I was in my 20s,
I earned a PhD in Sydney, and I headed off to Boston
to a place called MIT. To understand why yeast cells, little budding yeast that we use
to make bread and beer, why they grow old - because, I figured, if we couldn't figure
this out for a yeast cell, we had no hope of understanding
why we grow old. Fortunately, I did.
And even though there were critics
of this approach, the critics were even Nobel Prize
winners who told me, "This is not the way to go about aging.
Yeast cells don't get Grey hair. They don't get heart disease.
They don't get cancer. But I ignored them, fortunately. I was quite naive, luckily.
And in the next few years,
what we discovered as a group was that yeast cells do,
in fact, grow old. And one of the reasons is that their genes start
to switch on as they get older. So what I mean by that is that-- Every cell has a set number of genes;
we all know that. In every one of your cells:
the same number of genes, but they aren't all switched on
at the same time.
They need to be kept on and off and tell what type of cell is in the liver
and what type of cell is in the brain. What we found was these yeast cells
as they got older, after about a week, all the genes started
to come on, and they died. Now we could find genes that could actually slow
that process down. We could find genes that could switch off
those rogue genes and silence them.
This led to a discovery
of a longevity gene called Sir2. Sir2 stands for
Silent Information Regulator 2. So in 1999, we started a new lab
at Harvard Medical School. I was 29 and figured
I could change the world.
It was really exciting. We soon discovered that there are seven
of these longevity genes in our bodies. We call these the sirtuins. So the sirtuins have risen
to scientific prominence.
There're thousands of papers on these now. What we've learned is that they seem to protect
our body against diseases of aging. For example, If you put
extra copies of these genes into yeast, little nematode worms,
flies, and mice - they do a lot better. In fact, in most cases,
they live longer in a healthy state.
So what we need to do
is to figure out ways to tweak these genes,
to make them more active. And, in that way,
we might be able to delay all the diseases we get as we get older, and, possibly, even reverse aging. Let me explain
what the sirtuins do in our body. I have been very fortunate that the TEDx people have helped me
make some videos here.
There's a new idea about aging: and that is that, as we get older, genes are switched on and off
in the wrong way. So when we are young,
there's a beautiful symphony playing; but as we get older, the instruments, the orchestra starts to play willy-nilly
and screws things up. If we zoom into the cell,
you'll see a chromosome. If we stretch out the chromosome, that's the DNA
all twirled up, there in Grey.
The pink blobs are proteins
called histones that the DNA is packaged in. Red means the gene is off. The problem during aging is that chemicals come in
and stick to the histones, and turn the genes on, so that's what the green lights mean. This gene that should be off
in the brain of my grandmother is now coming on, and that's a terrible thing.
If this gene happened to be a gene
that told the liver to be a liver cell, and now it's on in the brain, you can imagine the problem. And that's what we think may be
a large part of what happens during aging. This leads to a really
important possibility. We used to think that mutations,
these irreversible changes to our DNA, are what cause aging; but, in fact, if it is this
- what we call an Epigenetic change - that's reversible.
So let me show you how we can reverse it. These sirtuins actually make proteins
that I'm going to show a cartoon of. It's going to look like a Pac-Man. What the sirtuins proteins
do in our bodies is that they clip off
these chemical groups.
And now the gene that was on
in the old person - in green - goes off again. And that's what the sirtuins are doing
in our bodies right now. They're stimulated naturally
when we don't eat and when we exercise. And If we eat a large hamburger,
we shut them down again.
This is not good. So what we wanted to do
was to find a way to turn this system on, to find a molecule
that could be taken in a little pill and turn on these sirtuin enzymes, and, thereby, we could clip off
these chemical groups, keep these diseases of aging at bay
and keep the whole body healthy. We might even one day, in theory,
reverse aspects of aging. As I said, I was in Boston and things
were looking really interesting.
I started a company
that was based on the discovery that there were molecules
that could activate these enzymes. The one that we found ten years ago
which got a lot of media attention, was from red wine. It's called resveratrol. And, don't ask me to say that again -
it's a hard word, resveratrol.
And so resveratrol (Laughter) as you've probably heard, is in red wine. Now, the problem with that is that you'd need to drink
about 100 glasses of red wine a day. (Laughter) No, I don't recommend that. (Laughter) Don't do that.
(Laughter) But what we clearly needed
was a drug that would do this. Something that's more effective,
more potent than resveratrol. This company raised a lot of money, and they set to find molecules
that were even better than resveratrol. They found ones that were 100 times
more potent than the red wine molecule.
They put them into animals. And these animals - I'm talking
about mice - were much healthier. They didn't get heart disease. They were protected against Alzheimer's.
They were protected against cancer.
It was extremely exciting. They even started human trials,
and the molecules appeared safe. And there were already hints,
just little hints, that actually these molecules were working
the same way as resveratrol was working to prevent these diseases of aging. So at that point, everything looked great.
I thought, "The world is going to be
different in my lifetime. We don't have to worry.
This is going to all work out." And then the bottom fell out. What happened was, a few years ago, the world's largest pharmaceutical company
put out a scientific paper that said that all of this science
was wrong, dead wrong - that resveratrol did not work
on these proteins. In fact, another group said
sirtuins have nothing to do with aging.
It was a really
depressing time of my life. I had emails from top scientists
sending me condolences. The clinical trials were put on hold. I thought I'd let my lab down.
I thought I'd let Australia down.
I thought I'd let the whole world down. And there were days where I really wanted
just to quit being a scientist. But the good news was, the silver lining, was that it forced us in the lab
to go back and really understand how did resveratrol and these other
synthetic drugs actually work. So I pulled together a group of scientists
- there were about 30 of us - and set to work
to understand what was true.
And what we've discovered is resveratrol really does bind
to that Pac-Man, sticks on the back of it,
and makes it chomp faster. That's how they all work.
We were surprised. We didn't realize resveratrol and these drugs all work
the same way, but they do. It was amazing.
So the clinical trials
have started up again, and I'm hopeful that one day
- hopefully, not in a too distant future - there will be medicines
that we can take, say a little pill - I've got an example
of what it might look like - we might take one of these with breakfast, and that could ward off the diseases
of aging until much later and keep us healthier and functioning. I really look forward to a day
when this happens, and when it does, I believe we're going
to look back at today, like we do people from a 100 years ago when people would die
from an infected splinter, which in those days, as you might recall,
was perfectly natural. I'm not only going to believe we have
a right to use this new technology to help ourselves and our loved ones; I believe we have a duty,
a financial and an ethical one. And if you don't believe me,
just ask any four-year-old.
A 44 YEAR OLD TEENAGER SHARES HIS ANTI-AGING
HEALTH TIPS. BY ARJUN WALIA. Roger Haeske is a health and fitness coach,
and after going through some difficult times in his life with his mental and physical health,
he ended up finding his very own fountain of youth. Its basically just positive vibes,
which is huge if youre aware of the emerging science behind the mind-body connection, a
diet predominately full of raw fruits and vegetables, and a good amount of physical
exercise.
Obviously, there are a lot of people that
disagree with this, and when it comes to our health its not always one size fits all. As you can see from the video below, Roger
is clearly in tip top shape and really looks healthy and youthful for his age. So, when
it comes to his first secret, a vegetarian diet full of predominately raw fruits and
vegetables, it makes sense. Dr.
Deepak Bhatt, a Harvard Medical School professor and Editor-in-Chief
of the Harvard Heart Letter emphasizes, When it comes to getting protein in your
diet, meat isnt the only option. Mounting evidence shows that reducing meat and increasing
plant-based protein is a healthier way to go. A diet with any type of meat raises the
risk of heart disease and cancer, when compared with a vegetarian diet. (Source)
Weve published multiple articles regarding the health & science behind a meat free diet,
so if youd like to learn more, I encourage you to go through the articles linked below.

Nearly All Vegetarian? When it comes to the second component, which
is exercise, no proof of that is really required, it goes without saying that its
an integral and necessary part in living a healthy lifestyle that helps to slow down
the aging process and therefore, age related diseases.
Theres something Id like to add in as well, and thats fasting and caloric restriction.
Caloric restriction (CR), defined as lessening caloric intake without depriving essential
nutrients, beginning early or in mid-life and sustained over the life span, increases
longevity and delays or slows progression of multiple age-related diseases in many,
but not all, laboratory animal models (14).
(Source)
Basically, when you take a look at caloric restriction studies, many of them show a prolonged
lifespan as well as an increased ability to fight chronic disease. Calorie restriction (CR) extends life span
and retards age-related chronic diseases in a variety of species, including rats, mice,
fish, flies, worms, and yeast. The mechanism or mechanisms through which this occurs are
unclear. The quote above is from a review of literature
that is more than 10 years old.
The work presented here is now showing some of these mechanisms
that were previously unclear. This brings me into another important point,
the power fasting, which, like caloric restriction, turns out to have a tremendous amount of health
benefits, and basically has the ability to regenerate your entire immune system. The
science behind fasting is truly incredible, and based on my research and experience, its
definitely a life changer for those who incorporate it into their lifestyle, but, it requires
a lot of research. If youd like to learn more about the benefits
of fasting, please refer to the links below.

Diabetes, Cancer & Alzheimers Disease When it comes to the mind-body connection,
the research and proof is abundant, there is enough to warrant the use of these practices
inside of hospitals, without a doubt. Why do I say this? Because as far back as 1999,
statistics professor Jessica Utts at UC Irvine, published a paper showing that parapsychological
experiments have produced much stronger results than those showing a daily dose of aspirin
helps to prevent heart attacks. Utts also showed that these results are much stronger
than the research behind various drugs like antiplatelets.
The interaction of our thoughts with the physical
material world is of huge interest today, garnering increasing attention by academics
around the world. Despite a wealth of scientific data showing that one can influence the other,
and even more evidence proving that certain emotional states can lead to chronic illness,
many who work in mainstream medicine remain entirely ignorant of these concepts. Perhaps this is why more and more people are
gravitating towards alternative forms of medicine. As Garth Cook from Scientific American points
out: A growing body of scientific research suggests
that our mind can play an important role in healing our body or in staying healthy
in the first place.
. . There are now several lines of research suggesting that our mental
perception of the world constantly informs and guides our immune system in a way that
makes us better able to respond to future threats. That was a sort of aha moment
for me where the idea of an entwined mind and body suddenly made more scientific sense
than an ephemeral consciousness thats somehow separated from our physical selves.

what we are doing on our planet, and have been doing for a long time. Its hard to
propose new ways of doing things to a human race thats been doing something for so
long, but its a step thats always been taken throughout human history. We go through
drastic changes and major global paradigm shifts, and one seems to be happening right
now with regards to meat eating, from a compassionate, health, and environmental standpoint.

So, Im at a party the other day. Me and my friend, Thomas we have a woman come
up to us. Small friendly get together and shes amazed
that Im 40 years old. I dont know how we got to talking about
age, but shes asking me what do you do with your skin, what do you do with your clothing,
how do you look so young.
She calls over her husband and shes wanting
me to give her husband tips and that got me thinking. You know I need to give my secrets. So, in this video guys, five secrets to looking
great over the age of 40, over the age of 50, over the age of 60, over the age of 70
because, yes, I have men in their 70s reach out to me and not only asking me style questions,
but also ask, Antonio, let me share with you how I am staying and how I am looking great. And so, Im going to give you guys some
great tips.
Hopefully youre able to use them because
it does matter. Lets say youre 52, youre 42 years
old, you just went through a divorce. Youre back out there on the dating scene
and you want to look great, you know that youve got a lot to offer. You want to meet and you start dating a woman.
Shes 32, maybe shes 28 and you dont
want you dont want the age difference to be so apparent. Now, maybe youre out there and youre
looking to start your career over and youre 58 years old, youre 62 years old. You you better believe ageism is a real
thing. A lot of companies, now, they cant ask
you your age, but they will look at, you know, does this guy look healthy, does he look like
hes going to stick around, can we put him in front of our customers and can he help
us sell.
You want to basically look the part of that
successful salesman. That guy thats going to help that nonprofit
double their, you know, double their exposure and be able to get out there and change the
world. Gentlemen, thats what this video is about. Tip number one.
Have purpose in your life. Guys, be confident. Stand for something. Nothing makes a man look older than a guy
thats basically given up on life and you know what Im talking about.
You see these guys moping around, they got
a negative attitude, they feel that everything is conspired against them. Theyre 42 years old and they feel their
life their best years is behind them. That is a bunch of BS guys. We are going to live longer than any generation
before us.
You can take care of yourself, you have all
of these options. If youre 40 years old, you probably have
40 more great years at least in front of you if you take care of yourself. Think about that. You can trans you can start at the age
of 65 and transform the next fifteen years.
You can start a company and sell it and leave
that as a legacy or go out and enjoy and buy a private jet. The point is youve got time and have a
positive attitude. Tip number two. Take care of your skin specifically with your
face.
Now, getting back to that story, the woman
the first thing she noticed is my face and she really thought my skin glowed. I felt really good. I dont do too much, but I will share with
you the three things I do do for my skin. So, number one, using a micro abrasion tool.
Now, a lot of you guys especially if you have
rougher skin, what youre going to want to do is remove this. Now, you can go to spas especially health
spas and pay about $150 to $200 a treatment. Youre going to want to do this probably
once a month, they may schedule a little bit close together, but youre going to find
that that youre going to need to have about three to four treatments. So, were talking almost $1,000 that youll
spend, but you cant see a huge difference.
Another option is to get a do-it-yourself
kit and Ive got this one here by PMD. Guys, I worked with a local aesthetician,
I had her evaluate it. I had her go through I had myself try this
and I can tell you that this stuff actually does work. Now, use the code RMRS if you want to get
a great discount, but I will tell you exactly how these things work.
It comes in a rechargeable. This one is specifically developed for men
and its got a little abrasion tool right here which will rub over your face, its
going to remove dead skin cells and its going to suction them right off. What I really like these guys have instructional
videos, so you cannot hurt yourself. Because thats one of the things youre
going to see out there is some people are like, hey, Ive never used a tool like that.
I dont know if I want to put anything like
that on my face. Lets think about it. Once a day, what are you doing? Youre shaving. You are putting a razor right up to your neck,
something that can cut your throat and youre just going nonchalantly.
The point is you know how to use it and you
became comfortable. Once you understand how this works, once a
week youre starting to use this within two months you are seeing amazing improvements
within one month you are seeing improvements. And thats the key guys is all of a sudden
you start to feel better about your face, people notice and you start getting compliments. Two other things that you want to do.
Make sure that youre using an anti-aging
cream or a moisturizer especially as you get older your skin starts to dry out more, it
starts to change. It maybe it loses a bit of its elasticity. So, you want to make sure that youre applying
basically something that has Retinol or Vitamin A.
Now, the third thing Im going to mention about skin, make sure whatever youre applying
whether itd be a lotion at the beginning of the day has a bit of sunscreen. Sun damage by UV rays is the number one cause
of a man basically his face looking older.
Another option if you dont want to apply
sunscreen to you face, start to wear a hat so you protect your face. [0:04:56]
Tip number three. Throw out clothes you do not love. Now, Im being really hard here.
If youre 40 years old, if youre 50 years
old, if youre 60 years old, you should have some spending power so you can go out
there and get rid of those items that just you dont really like. Make sure everything you put on, I tell you
when I put on this shirt when I put on these jeans, when I wear this belt, everything I
have in my wardrobe I love. And its an amazing thing happen because
you start to put together outfits that are a little bit fun, but every time you wear
that clothing you feel great. Going back to point number one, you feel confidence
and youre able to walk and you never feel a bit awkward because the worst thing is to
own something that really you dont like and when youre looking for something or
everything else is dirty and you wear it and you feel those jeans are just a little bit
too tight and maybe you dont like the style of that shirt, something about that makes
you it makes you just conscious of it and all of a sudden your confidence dips down.
Because at this point, gentlemen, you never
want your confidence to go down. You want its like a suit of armor,
when you put on that sports jacket and you walk into that store and you just feel great
and you just maybe going in there to get milk and get some eggs, but youre going to come
out all of a sudden with everyone remembering who you are and maybe, you know, the phone
number of that that cute cashier that was there working. Tip number four. Take care of your teeth.
If you are out there dating, understand thats
one of the first things a woman is going to look at. Shes going to look at your mouth, shes
going to look at your teeth, and shes thinking, do I want to kiss this individual. And if youve got bad teeth and it happens
as we get older, our gums start to recede. All of a sudden there are things that are
happening, your teeth are not as strong, so go to the dentist every six months.
Make sure they remove that plaque. I can tell you, I didnt go for a year and
a half one time and I got basically beyond gingivitis. They actually had to go in and I was starting
to get gum disease. And, that stuff is not fun to deal with.
And, as you get older, you need to really
pay attention to this, so dont skip out going to the dentist. Now, teeth whitening, as your teeth start
to yellow as they start to age, consider whitening your teeth. Theres tons of alternatives out there,
Ive talked about it before. Finally, if youve got really bad teeth,
consider veneers.
I know its a huge investment, but if youre
still out there in your 60s and you want to start a new career in sales or maybe youre
in your 50s and youre out there dating, maybe this is going to be a huge boost in
confidence which is going to help you just go out there and do what you want to be able
to do. Tip number five. New colors. Guys, understand as you age as your hair starts
to gray, all of a sudden there is an advantage here in that you can start to bring in new
colors.
In addition, be adventurous, men are creatures
of habit. Oftentimes men wear the same colors again
and again. Try to introduce new colors. Understand that as your skin is changing as
your hair is changing, some colors that didnt look good on you on your 20s may look great
on you in your 50s.
All right, guys. Bonus tip. Now, I am not a fitness channel, but I will
tell you watch what you eat and take care of your body. This is the only body you have.
You need to be going to the gym and you need
to more importantly be watching everything that goes into your mouth. Guys, it is so important if you want to live
a healthy, long life. In addition, nothing looks better than when
your body underneath that clothing your body underneath everything Ive just mentioned
is in great shape. All right, gentlemen thats it.
Let me know what you think down in the comments
and go checkout PMD. Remember, I had a local aesthetician check
this out, I tested it myself, a very cool product. If youve got rougher skin, this is going
to help smooth out your skin at home and its going to save you money. Use code RMRS over at your website and you
get a great discount and, yeah, be able to check them out, good company.
Josh: Hey guys, we're going to be talking
about how to totally transform your skin and really natural beauty tips including the best
essential oils, best herbs, best vitamins and supplements, and some of the best foods
for transforming your skin. And if you're a person who is struggling with
any type of skin issue or just in general, you want to have beautiful glowing skin. We're going to talk about some of our top
tips today. So Jordan we can go ahead and jump right in.
I know we've got . . . Again I'll play Vanna
White here for the first one I'll have you then number two.
We're going to talk about five keys to anti-aging
and having perfect glowing skin. And so, number one thing that you need to
start doing right away to transform the health of your skin is do what Jordan? Jordan: Healthy fats, and there are many types
of fats and I recommend you get them in your diet every day. Let's talk a little bit about the taboo saturated
fats, or should I say the bomb, because saturated fats are critical for your health and what
are saturated fats? They come in medium and short chains. Short chain fatty acids which are great for
the gut, and by the way, the skin is a reflection of your insides.
It's a great way to tell how healthy you are. Short chain fatty acids are found in butter,
even a more concentrated source in ghee. I know you love ghee I loved ghee. Josh: Oh yeah.
Jordan: I loved ghee. It's really good for you. Ghee is clarified butter and it's a powerful
food and remedy that is consumed throughout India and around the world. Those are short chain fatty-acids.
Medium chain primarily comes from coconut
oil, and palm oil, and red palm oil also has vitamin E which is great for the skin. It can be a little messy though when you consume
or cook with the red palm oil it can stain really bad. Coconut oil and red palm oil fell out of favor
50 or so years ago when the myth that saturated fat causes heart disease was out there. Well guess what? Saturated fat might actually help your heart.
In fact, we believe it does. So you want saturated fats, coconut, coconut
oil, palm oil, look for organic virgin or unprocessed, you want butter grass-fed organic
and ghee. And then we have monounsaturated fats coming
from olives in olive oil, macadamia nuts, you've got sesame seeds, peanuts have monounsaturated
oils, and avocados are a great source. Josh: Yeah, absolutely.
Jordan: And then we have Omega-3s, two types. From fish, fatty fish in particular salmon
herring, mackerel, sardines, and fatty tuna. You've got Omega-3s from walnuts, chia seeds,
and flax seeds and their oils and you can take supplements of course that have EPA and
DHA. And probably, and you asked me this before,
my favorite source of fats because it has phospholipids, it has squalene, and many other
fatty acid components, its caviar or fish roe.
And it's not just for the wealthy. Caviar is fairly affordable when you buy it
from the right places. And it's really, really beneficial. Little high in sodium but if you can get either
salmon roe or any type of caviar with no preservatives and colors, it not only gives you omega-3
fats, it gives you Vitamin E, Vitamin D, and phospholipids which help drive the fats into
your system.
Those are amazing for your skin. Egg yolk is also a great source of fat, and
get this here's a tip. When I see people that have skin issues, I
recommend an egg yolk facial mask. I don't know if you've heard of this but not
only does it have antioxidants, but it also pulls out impurities.
And I believe that when you consume eggs internally,
especially raw and another program we'll tell you how to do that properly. Eggs actually act like a toxin sponge and
can pull junk out of your body. But if you are bold enough to wear egg on
your face, give it a try. Eggs are good internally and they're good
on your face, especially if they're pasture raised.
Josh: And I might want to mention this, one
of the things, face masks Jordan, I love the idea of the egg yolk and adding some turmeric
to that. Rubbing that on the skin, it's incredible. I know we're going to talk about some natural
beauty tips when we jump in and talk about essential oils. Jordan: Yeah, I'm not to be here when the
person who rubbed turmeric on their face calls back in and says, "How do I get it off?" You can talk to him about that one I'll stick
with the egg yolk.
Josh: All right, let's jump in here, so five
keys to anti-aging, number two one of my absolutely favorite topics. We're going to talk about the best essential
oils for supporting healthy skin and the natural anti-aging process. And I'll tell you Jordan, I'm a huge fan of
essential oils. I'm going to start off talking about some
of my favorite essential oils and let you talk about some of yours.
So I'm a huge fan of geranium and geranium
rose. Geranium, actually works through naturally
hydrating and moisturizing your skin. So geranium is one of my favorites. I love myrrh essential oil.
We know myrrh was used in the Bible. In fact Jordan, when we hear the story of
the three wise men bringing gold, frankincense, and myrrh to the infant Jesus, some researchers
believe that myrrh would have been used by the whole family, but potentially by Mary
as well. In fact, myrrh during those days was used
to prevent infection, it was used to balance hormones. We know Queen Esther, it's referenced in the
Bible that she used a total of six oils, but one of those they mentioned was myrrh essential
oil along with floral oils as a natural beauty treatment.
We know Cleopatra . . . So again myrrh essential
oil, one of the most popular, one of my favorite.
And myrrh is a little bit thicker than the
other oils. One of the benefits is it doesn't vaporize
as quickly as certain other essential oils. So myrrh oil, one of my personal favorites
especially for issues of red, dry, and flaking type skin, it's absolutely fantastic for those
types of issues as well. Jordan: Now you know what I always think about
when I read the passage of Scripture in the book of Esther, could you imagine if we found
the scroll that talked about the beauty treatments that the incoming queen candidates consumed? Josh: Oh yeah.
Jordan: That would be so amazing, six months
of treatment of myrrh is what the Bible said. But just a written protocol how cool with
that because those were ladies that transformed themselves to be in the presence of the king. So if any of you have that scroll, you can
send that in and we'll give you more than just one free gift. Josh: And I want to talk about a natural .
. . Actually
I'll talk about my special formula for my anti-aging serum using essential oils in one
second. But Jordan, share with us some of your favorite
essential oils for natural skin care and beauty.
Jordan: Absolutely and I do love lavender. In fact for me, every day I use lavender,
frankincense, and rosemary, and I pour it on my head, actually multiple times and I
love to anoint my kids. Josh and I are working on an amazing book,
I'll tease it here. It will be already in the next few months.
It's called Essential oils: Ancient Medicine
for the Modern World and it is a whopping 400 plus pages already and it's not fully
complete. It is the guide to essential oils, and I'm
loving doing the research and the reading myself. It's truly amazing. But one thing we talked about is, how I like
to anoint my kids and I put a little drop of usually lavender, it's an oil that can
be very safe for children in various areas.
I'll tell you something funny in just a minute
that many people can probably attest to doing also. So I put a drop of oil on their head and I
quote from Psalm 23, "I anoint your head with oil your cap runs over, surely goodness and
mercy will follow you all the rest of your days and you'll dwell in the house of the
Lord forever." And I say that about myself when I pour it
on. You know what else I thought of? I have a bunch of goats and animals at the
farm and I said, next time a female goat has triplets, three girls, I'm going to name them
Surely, Goodness, and Mercy. You know what I did the other day? I get to the bottom of the essential oils
and I get irritated because they don't come out of what you would call the orifice reach
anymore, so I pull it off and then I close it, thinking I'll remember next time.
So I went and poured frankincense on my head
and I couldn't catch it. Sometimes you quickly catch it, it went all
over my face and I think almost in my eyes and it didn't bother me. It was unbelievable, I mean I wouldn't normally
put frankincense in my eye and my cup certainly ran over that day. But if that's ever happened to you, you know
what I'm talking about.
Thank God it wasn't oregano. Josh: Yeah, no exactly. Yeah oregano or clove you'd have to be running
water in your eye for 30 minutes. Jordan: And I have accidentally put clove
on when I did it in the dark, just a drop or two and it wasn't that great, I'll tell
you.
Josh: Oh yeah. So as we're talking about, I mean essential
oils are so beneficial for the skin, part of your natural beauty routine. I'm going to share my formula for a natural
anti-aging serum that I use, that my wife Chelsea uses on a regular basis. Before I do that though, today there are millions
of people all around the world who are using chemical based products Jordan.
If you think about it, I mean things like
EDTA, sodium lauryl sulfate, parabens, all of these chemicals that are found in our shampoo,
and our body lotions, and our moisturizers. I want to encourage you today, if you're using
those chemically based beauty products and skincare products. Get them out of your house, replace them with
essential oils. We actually have lots of natural DIY recipes
on my website, draxe.Com.
So if you want to make your own natural shampoo
like I do, just search Dr. Axe shampoo recipe and we've got all of those things on there
right now. And so here's this radiating serum we use,
Jordan. We actually use a little bit of jojoba oil
which is very good for the skin.
We do a little bit of pomegranate oil, and
then we mix in lavender, myrrh, and geranium. Those oils and then a lot of times frankincense. And so we mix all those oils together. That's what we use in our skin, that's what
we use on our face, that's one of the great things as well about oils especially like
frankincense and geranium.
Whether you have dry or oily skin, they're
actually good for both. They work to naturally balance out the oil
on your skin. So again, essential oil is so powerful we
know for natural beauty and skin. And I know Jordan you've got kids at home,
so we're talking about anti-aging and beauty before I uncover this third one.
What are some of the oils you use if your
kids get any type of issue maybe they fall and scrape themselves? What do you do in that case?
Jordan: I hate to go to the well too often but lavender is so good for mild burns, cuts,
and scrapes. I cut two of my fingers, I'm not even sure
how and you're always preparing things, kids have nails or grabbing this that in the other,
but lavender is so gentle and soothing. I use it all the time. But I also use frankincense and I'll use it
more now that I dropped some in my eye by accident because it's pretty soothing as well.
But I think lavender and frankincense are
a major one-two punch. Lavender brings healing, frankincense is very
anti-inflammatory so they're both amazing. There's many others of course. And there's also what we would call the healthy
fats to use.
Rosehip and rosehip seed oil are really, really
good as well. And of course coconut oil is always great. Josh: Oh yeah. We're jumping into number three here.
You guys are going to enjoy this one. This is huge and may surprise some of you
when it comes to skin health. Number three here in the five keys to anti-aging,
you need to consume more collagen rich foods. Jordan: And this would be bone broth which
we mention almost every single program.
That is the quintessential beauty product. We talked about this yesterday, if you want
great health there's a handful of foods and compounds that are ancient yet need to be
super modern. We mentioned fermented foods, bone broth,
fish roe or caviar, those are amazing. But particularly, bone broth.
And it isn't just bone broth, when you are
consuming a chicken, so today we're having organic roasted chicken for dinner. When it's organic I eat the skin, it's one
of my favorite parts. That's where the hyaluronic acid and other
collagen boosting compounds are found. So even if you're not simply making broth,
you can consume the skin.
And you know what else? In addition of bone broth, meaty broth. When you cook meat or when you roast chicken,
people always throw away what they think is the fat. It's not the fat. Its broth from the meat that contains not
only collagen rich substances but also immune supportive, energizing supplements particularly
amino acids.
Josh: Yeah, it's incredible. If you think about Thanksgiving and all that
juice at the bottom of the turkey, I mean it is loaded, that's where all the nutrients
are. Now, my mom, my grandmother likes to make
gravy out of it. Now when Chelsea and I do Thanksgiving now,
we actually use that, we make our own sort of paleo or gluten-free gravy with it.
It is so good for the body and that's the
part that you absolutely want to be getting on a regular basis. So I want to mention a few things here with
collagen rich foods. If you look at bone broth, it is packed with
proline and glycine. I mean these are building blocks of collagen
that support healthy tissues.
And when you're buying things specifically
for the skin type one, two, and three collagen are all beneficial. So you want to focus on getting something
that's a well-rounded product with different types of collagen. And Jordan, another thing I want to mention
here when we look at bone broth, is its high in something you mentioned. It's high in glucosamine, chondroitin, and
hyaluronic acid.
All of these not only support the joints and
the gut, they protect the skin as well. And talk to me Jordan about some other food,
so again we know bone broth is by far number one. But after bone broth are there any other foods,
or nutrients, or plants that actually can support collagen production in your own body? Jordan: There are many. Think about this, when you look at bone broth
you talk about chondroitin, glucosamine, and hyaluronic acid, they are glycosaminoglycans.
They are polysaccharides, so there are also
proteoglycans and there's really two major food sources of polysaccharides. You could think a third potentially and they're
all good for the skin. Number one is mushrooms. Mushrooms both culinary and medicinal are
great.
And we talked about this earlier, well not
a mushroom, more of a fungus, chaga is amazing. Chaga actually has melanin in it, chaga is
a tree fungus from Russia and is absolutely acclaimed. Reishi or Ganoderma is a powerful Chinese
mushroom that people talk about as the mushroom of immortality. Turkey tail is amazing for a number of reasons.
Shiitake is great, agaricus. So mushrooms are a great source, not only
of immune support but of collagen building. Number two is sea vegetables or seaweed. Seaweed has various components or polysaccharides,
sulfated polysaccharides in red marine algae that's great for collagen and elastin production.
And of course, citrus. Vitamin C was named after collagen. Vitamin C which cured scurvy, scurvy was really
characterized by bleeding gums and loose gums and teeth because the collagen had worn down. So consuming Vitamin C rich food and the cofactor,
so that's why I think actually lemon, orange, grapefruit, lime, and tangerine oil would
be great as well because all of the components.
Citrus peel is wonderful. But consuming lemon or lime juice can help
also boost collagen production. So if you're someone who says, "You two always
talk about bone broth. I'm a plant-based eater, I'm a vegan," well
here's what you can do.
I'm not only a bone broth every day, I have
shroom broth every day. Josh: I love it. Jordan: More like tea. I take mushrooms and some of them are very
hard, we grow medicinal mushrooms I will make a decoction or an infusion and
consume that as well.
So I'm getting it all over from all different
angles. And this isn't even a vegetable, it's a fungi,
so let's call it this, multi kingdom collagen. Josh: I like it, it's great. So Jordan, step number four here, let's talk
about it.
Organic acid, I'll have you go first. Jordan: Organic acids are a powerful, often
left out nutritional superhero. Organic acids are created either naturally
in food, so citric acid is found in lemon. There is acetic acid which is created by bacteria
but found in apple cider vinegar, there is fulvic and humic acid which is created by
the natural breakdown of carbon-based substances and there is lactic acid through probiotic
fermentation and many others.
Organic acids, we hear a lot of them, fruit
acids put on the skin, right? Josh: Oh yeah. Jordan: But consuming fermented foods is a
great way to get organic acids, as is consuming something that will contain a fulvic or humic
acid. So these are really, really important. One great source of organic acids is Himalayan
shilajit.
Shilajit is sort of this dark colored goo
that oozes from volcanic areas. They find it in the Himalayas. Also another form of it is humate. So consuming those can be really, really good
for you.
But organic acids truly help you become younger
and most Americans today because of our processed diet are virtually deficient in organic acids. Josh: Jordan a lot of people talk about alkalizing
the body. But organic acids kind of work in a different
way, they really help balance your pH of your digestive system which is really so important
for the body. We know that there's a lot of different organic
acids, Jordan mentioned shilajit, even apple cider vinegar, we're talking about things
like acetic acid, fermented herbs, sauerkraut, some of these other foods, great sources of
organic acids.
And they really support a healthy probiotic
growth within your system as well. So you really want to make sure you're getting
some organic acids. So one tablespoon of apple cider vinegar and
water with a meal is a great thing to do. A serving of sauerkraut as we've talked about,
or in your supplements looking for things like shilajit, humic acid, fulvic acid, like
Jordan's talking about.
Some absolutely fantastic tips there, what
about kombucha? Jordan: Kombucha has organic acids as well,
it has glucuronic, gluconic, and acetic acid, and it's another great source of organic acids
and beauty. A lot of people consume kombucha for its beauty
benefits. Josh: Jordan, what do you think and, this
is a little off topic, but Jordan, what are your thoughts on iodine? Jordan: I think iodine can be very good, some
people believe it is the absolute answer for everything. We're going to talk about that in an upcoming
show, but I think a natural source of iodine particularly sea vegetables can be really,
really good, and there are some good supplements out there and there are people that really
need iodine.
So if you know that you've got thyroid issues,
I would recommend seeking help from a natural health care practitioner to make sure, but
that would be their reason to supplement with larger amounts of iodine. Josh: Absolutely. Our last food and this is an absolutely big
one. Jordan: I'm going to talk about three enzyme
rich fruits, okay? So two fruits that are known for their enzyme
content are papaya and pineapple.
So papaya has papain, I'm sure you've heard
of papain. It's the number one meat tenderizer out there,
because it breaks down proteins, it's also found in a lot of supplements that are geared
towards digestion. Bromelain is the other. Bromelain is from pineapple really from the
stem, and papain is commonly found in the latex or the skin of the papaya, not the parts
we eat unfortunately.
Those two are standbys for enzyme production. Josh: So Jordan, talk about those enzymes
that are found in kiwi and then I can touch on the next fruit after that. Jordan: I absolutely. I've been eating one to two kiwis a day or
in evening since I realized that the powerful enzyme actinidain which is another proteolytic
or protein digesting enzyme is found in kiwi.
And kiwi also contains omega-3s, the seeds
and you can even eat the skin. I peel it because I like to taste better. But kiwis are awesome and the enzymes in the
fruit, it's not found in the stem or a part you don't eat. So eat more kiwis, look for the actinidain
enzyme content.
And the last one is? Josh: Figs. I mean, Jordan knows because I talk about
them all the time, I am a huge fig fan. And figs actually contain fican which is another
proteolytic enzyme that has similar benefits to actinidain, and bromelain, and papain. So again, figs are absolutely fantastic for
digestion.
When you talk about the skin, talk about an
antioxidant powerhouse. All of those seeds are great for naturally
helping cleans the colon. So again, figs are a great one. So remember this, pineapple is great.
We know that papaya is great. But our two favorites are probably kiwi and
figs are excellent. I want to actually throw one more out there. There's an herb or a root high in proteolytic
enzymes, ginger.
Ginger contains zingiberene which is another
enzyme that actually helps support digestion. So ginger is beneficial for so many things. But that could go on the list there as well. And just a few recipe ideas.
I love doing Jordan, I'm a kiwi smoothie,
I do actually just some kiwi. A lot of times I'll put some of that vanilla
bone broth protein powder in with that. The figs, I love doing with chocolate. In fact my wife and I a few weeks ago do chocolate
fondue.
We did some raspberries, blueberries, and
figs dipped, so we took dark chocolate, coconut milk mixed it up, did fondue with it. Talk about an anti-aging dessert. We got a couple questions here we're going
to answer for you right now. One of the first questions here is from Sarah.
She says, "What are your thoughts on this? My husband is afraid to take probiotics because
he hasn't eaten too clean lately. Wouldn't he benefit from taking probiotics
anyways?" Jordan: Probiotics are great if you eat well
or if you don't. And either way, they're not going to harm
you because if you get too many they're merely digested as protein would be. So if you've not eaten very well lately, it's
the best time to take probiotics, maybe not a mega dose but certainly get started on it.
Josh: All right. Maria has a question. She says, "My son has some skin issues," so
her young son. Says, "The doctor say they are actually under
the skin cysts.
I'm just wondering what are some things my
son can do to help him have naturally healthy skin? Jordan: Not sure the age, but detoxification
or cleansing is very, very important. But one of the best ways to have healthy skin,
and there's so many things we could have mentioned, hydrating. I know people that get enough fluids have
much better looking skin. I would put fat right up there as a one-to-one.
But also getting sun. Many people have skin issues when they don't
get sun, green foods are amazing. There's so many things we left out in retrospect. But also this would be a great candidate for
essential oils, particularly frankincense and lavender combo.
Josh: Yeah, I would say one of the things,
especially if we're talking about a young boy here, let's say it's elementary or high
school often times as Jordan mentioned, lavender oil is great. One of my favorite things to do Jordan, is
to mix manuka honey, or just raw local honey you get at your farmers market with some lavender
and tea tree oil. Rub it on the face, leave it on there two
minutes and wash it off. It's really great for young kids and teens
to do.
Jordan, this is a question from Licha Rosa
Shifflett she says, "How can I lessen some of my hormone balance issues?" Jordan: Start with adaptogenic herbs, not
pro-hormones, not bioidentical hormones but adaptogenic herbs. Ashwagandha is my favorite, rhodiola is really
good, eleuthera, reishi, reishi is amazing, cordyceps you mentioned, ginseng, depending
on what you're dealing with is a powerful adaptogen as well. Schisandra is just awesome. Adaptogens first, two I would go with a bioidentical
hormone program under a licensed physician.
So get tested. I don't believe in using progesterone creams,
just loosey goosey, as you say, willy nilly or whatever. Because you don't know your numbers. So make sure that you get tested and I think
bioidentical hormones are a second step.
Third of course would be a prescription hormone
medication which I'm not too fond of, but some people need based on what their lifestyle
is. So start with adaptogenic herbs that help
lower cortisol, helping to boost DHEA which helps with everything from serotonin to you
name it. Josh: Got a comment here from Dana. She says, "Yes.
I cut out dairy and it helped acne," so that's
a great comment there. We have actually a question from Nida. She says, "I get bloated a lot. Any thoughts and what can cause it and help
to reduce bloating." Jordan: So eating one food at a time is great.
Number two, chew your food thoroughly, I guarantee
you, Nida, if you focus on chewing after our program all my kids took longer to eat dinner
because they were chewing their food. And they were like, "You and Josh argued. He said 30, dad you said 50, I'm going with
30," thanks a lot, Josh. So they're happy.
Chew your food more thoroughly, especially
carbohydrates and really take digestive enzymes with your food, that is what this is for,
to reduce post-meal, gas, and bloating. Josh: Hi, Dr. Axe here. I want to say thanks so much for checking

- I would love for like a day where it's not like oh my God your skin looks really good right now, but it's just like, oh my God, your skin is fucking flawless. (Pop music) Today we're getting our acne diagnosed. And I'm very excited about it. - I'm slightly nervous just because I've been
avoiding them for a while now.
- When I was a teen, I
actually had really clear skin. And like never had to wear make up. It wasn't until like I was in my 20s and all of a sudden I started getting like weird cystic acne that I was like what the fuck is going on? - So about six months ago, I
was completely normal skin. Now, as of today, I'm pretty combination.
- I feel like the dermatologist is gonna tell me that it's like hormonal because I do find that
my acne is very cyclical. - At first I thought it was my makeup, so I changed my makeup. And then I thought it was because I wasn't cleaning my brushes enough. And I just hate that I can't walk out the house without makeup on.
- I'm ready to just get it figured out. (Upbeat music) - My name is Dr. Vicki Rapaport. And I am a dermatologist
at Rapaport Dermatology.
I'm gonna help diagnose their acne. Explain to them what kind
of acne that they have. Hi Alaina. How are you doing? - I'm doing well, I'm excited.
- I'm gonna take a really good look at you and then we'll decide what
to do based on what I see. So now comes rule number one in my book. Absolutely no picking allowed, right? - Right, see that's a problem. I'm a picker.
- Okay, so you're a picker.
- Yeah. - That's good information, that's stuff I need to hear about. From afar, it looks a little bit T-Zone. Not so much on your forehead, but down the middle of your
face is central acne.
And yes, it is definitely cystic. I mean, they're small
cysts, but they're cysts. Even if you told me you didn't pick, I would know you were
not telling me the truth because I can tell. - I know.
- But that's good in
a way that it's mostly old picked lesions, it's
not a lot of active things. You do you have a couple
little tiny pustules. And then you have a couple
old scars on your chin. It's pretty clear you have
a genetic predisposition to either have a lot of
oil glands in these areas, compared to the average person, or your oil glands are
just easily turned on.
Remember, stick with science. We do know a couple things
now and it's kind of new. There's something called
the glycemic index. I've been shown that high glycemic index foods can affect acne.
White sugar, white rice,
cookies, candies, sodas, having a high glycemic index food that increases your insulin levels does actually affect your oil production. We've diagnosed your acne,
and now what I'm gonna do is I'm gonna do a liquid
nitrogen slush on you. It's gonna take off the
very top surface layer. And just help start the
whole exfoliation progress.
I like the idea of doing
the lightstim on you. It's gonna take about 10 minutes, and like I said, there's no down time. And it kills the bacteria on your skin. (Upbeat music) Let's talk about Bree first.
It's really interesting about Bree is that you see her from afar and you think that she has a lot of acne, but actually she just has more post inflammatory lesions that are old. So we're treating Bree topically. Alaina, she had a little
bit different acne. Hers was a little deeper,
a little more cystic.
She was very, very, very oily. Her oil production will
be good later in life, but now it's just causing more acne. For her, we did something oral, an antibiotic which
will kill the bacteria. - Thank you so much for everything today.
I feel like we worked
out some serious issues. You're now my dermatologist
and my therapist. - The first time going
to the dermatologist, I was quite nervous. I knew she would have to tell
me what I needed to hear.
And I didn't think I was
necessarily ready for that. Because I thought I was
doing the right things. - I had a very strong inkling that it would be hormonally based. And I think she emphasized more of like a genetic basis on it.
- She had told me that my diet
is a big cause of my acne. I thought she was gonna tell me something completely different. - I fully recommend
going to a dermatologist. I honestly don't know how
it took me so long to go.
Like, I feel really silly about it. I recognize that, like healthcare
can be kind of expensive, and finding the right
doctor can be intimidating, but like, if there is
something bothering you about, like, the way your skin is, there's not a reason for
you to live like that. (Upbeat music).
